Getting the Most out of your Maternity Session

First let me start by saying Congratulations on your growing family. Maternity and Newborn are some of my favorite sessions to shoot. I love seeing the love through images. Whether its simply the love of a mother with her child, a new mom and dad together, or the whole family welcoming the little one into the world. There are definitely things to consider though when you book a maternity session with LJPhotography.

First is Location, location, location. Living in south Texas we have a wide variety of locations available to us in a range of surrounding areas. I have amazing locations from Rockport, Aransas, Port Aransas, Portland, Corpus Christi and areas within the city such as Calallen, Downtown, and lots of areas within Corpus. Also available is an in Studio session at my studio located in Portland, I have a variety of backgrounds for use. Or we could do a combination of Studio and On Location. One of the first questions I as when we are discussing your upcoming maternity session is whether you are having a boy or a girl. There are areas that feel gender specific with colors and over all feel, but there are definitely areas that are gender neutral that will be beautiful no mater the gender of your little one. We can use the landscapes available in our area to enhance your beauty and create images that you will love forever.

The next item to consider is Wardrobe, and this really goes hand to hand with your location as well. I typically suggest something that you will feel comfortable in for the entire session, you will need to be able to move, and with the Texas heat you will need to take that into consideration as well. For new Mommies I suggest a soft, flowing, dress or sun-dress with a belt or cinch of some sort to enhance your beautiful bump. But the most important thing to consider is Comfort. For the new daddies and siblings you will want to choose something that will not clash with moms outfit or distract from her either. Solid neutral colors always look best, with a simple jean. Try to steer clear from strong patterns or bright colors. These would really distract from what the focus is – The Baby Bump!!

My ultimate goal is to help you and your family feel comfortable not only with me, but with your surroundings and just to document this amazing time and focus on the Joy. This is such a special time and I feel so blessed and honored that you have chosen me to help you remember this time forever. Please contact me today to book your maternity session, and when you book both the maternity and your newborn session with LJPhotography you will receive a discount, a great time with tons of laughs and gorgeous images.
